Blog Entry #26

I committed to UT Austin last week as an environmental science major and I plan on using this blog entry to outline some of my goals and plans for the next few years.

I'm going to get involved with the various environmental clubs and pitch some of my ideas for projects, hopefully leading some to completion. I have already sent a message to the Campus Environmental Center asking for more details on their projects and goals while making connections with some of the members. I am focusing my current projects and research around developing skills that I can use for projects in college.

I plan on spending my summers doing something that relates to environmental science in some way. Whether I am interning, volunteering, leading some projects, or working as a wilderness guide does not matter to me as long as I am enjoying it and developing skills. I will look into summer opportunities well before the summer begins so I do not miss them and I have several options to choose from.

Most importantly, I still want to have fun. I want to make sure that I do not end up swamped with work to the extent that I cannot socialize or have any free time.

I look forward to the future and all of the opportunities it will bring.
